Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is the use of oral sedative medication combined with nitrous oxide and local anesthesia. The patient is conscious and responsive throughout the procedure.
With safe and proven techniques, dental patients receive sedative drugs which work rapidly to create a relaxed state that is maintained and monitored throughout treatment. Beyond creating an optimal environment for you, sedation dentistry also allows the doctor to complete multiple procedures in one appointment.
With sedation you simply won’t remember or be aware of any of the dental procedures that are performed. You breathe on your own, unlike hospital anesthesia where a machine breathes for you.

The patient requirements for oral conscious sedation include not eating for at least 6 hours before the patient’s appointment. We also require that the patient have a responsible adult to drive them home and stay with them the rest of the day or until they are fully awake. Please ask for a full copy of patient requirements if you think this may be an option for you.
